DUTCH OBEDIENCE SHOW - JANUARY 31st 2015
Yet another welcome and happy return to judge in Holland. Friendly competitors ,who are supportive of one another help to make the day special. I particularly like and enjoy the gathering of everyone at the close of the Show where Cards and Rosettes are awarded and winning competitors are applauded.
Class ‘B’ Ring Steward - Anne Marie Ibelings
Scoreboard - Paul v Dyk
Decoy - Inge de Graauw
FIRST - ISABELLA VAN DAMME with ‘ ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS BIENE’ WS
I would have been delighted to have put this little black collie in my flight bag but I doubt I would have got far!!! She reminded me so much of ‘Polly’ I once had and adored! An honest little sweetie who threw herself into giving of her best for her handler. Her tail wagged throughout as she gave her ‘all’ .In my opinion beautifully trained – work at its best – unfussy , clean and straight forward. So little to mark! Very very Well Done. Congratulations on your very well-deserved win.
SECOND - TINY BOUCHAUT with ‘RAZZLE DAZZLE ‘ BC
A super clear Sendaway and a lovely retrieve contributed to this placing for this attractive chocolate coloured collie. Little to mark, in general , but if the handler’s shoulder ‘stayed in place ‘ there would be even less !!! Has to be a winner very soon so I wish you that extra bit of luck.Well Done.
THIRD - ESTHER BROUTHER with ‘BESTFELLOW KIEFER OF CLOVER CORNER ‘ BC
Esther felt her dog was not ‘on form ‘ so by what I saw today that ‘ bodes well’ for future Shows! I was particularly impressed with both the successful smart Retrieve and Scent exercises. I notice I wrote on my sheet – very nice careful pick – up – quick , calm , and sensible _ Can you ask for more ? It will not be long before you win out of this class , I am sure! Good Luck and prove me right !!! ‘
FOURTH - JOHN van HEMERT with ‘ MR BRISKEY OF DARK BRIGHTNESS ‘ TERVEREN
I felt so disappointed for you when after a very nice initial round both Stay exercises had to be heavily marked .Only bits and pieces in all the other exercises - which happens to us all at times . I wish you the best of luck for your next Show.
Many thanks to Anne Marie who guided the competitors very kindly through their tests and then had to rush away to her shift at the hospital ,as a nurse. I hope you were not too tired on Sunday!
A gentleman named Paul v Dyke manned the Scoreboard – he has a very special pace in my heart as well as organising the paperwork and competitors magnificently – Thank you my friend.
Inge de Graauw , an experienced handler , acted as Decoy Steward for Scent and I thank her for giving her time.
Class ‘C’ Ring Steward - Rick van Veeren
Scoreboard - Paul van Dyk
Decoy - Brenda Botermans
FIRST - GUUS SCHOLTEN with ‘ DANESWAY DUET ‘ WS
Despite an ----------- blip on retrieve which cost this team 5 points they came out top of the class which has to be an indication of the high quality of the remaining exercises - and YES – quality it was. Clear Fast and Slow pace, clear DC , Clear Sendaway and Clear Scent and Stays. I drool!! Congratulations.
SECOND - CHRISTINA PESTKA with ‘ ARGO ‘ BC
Another quality round and unlucky to be up against the above team! ( I do know how that feels ) My sheet reads - Sendaway lovely , accurate and sensible - Clear Scent and Stays AND the very smartest of DC – neat , speedy , precise – IMPRESSIVE. Very well Done.
THIRD - GREET VINK with ‘KYRILL v BERTAERE ‘ BC
A classy round apart from the ‘ hiccup ‘ on SEndaway!! I really liked the action in DC. – Precise and neat. Good Luck in your next Shows with your lovely Tri collie.
FOURTH - CEES GROEN with ‘NICE OF YOU TO COME BYE KEENKITE ‘ BC
I was most impressed by the smooth unfussy and honest Heelwork this team displayed.
FIFTH - KARIN STEGMEIJER ‘ with ‘ ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS McCAY ‘ WS
Having just analysed my scoresheet I find myself hoping you looked at it - or maybe not!! ABSOLUTELY lovely business – like attitude to work. Changes of pace clearly defined. An eventual perfect Sendaway showed that this team are QUALITY - we all have ‘ blips ‘ Sadly today it was your turn.
SIXTH - INGE DE GRAAUN with ‘ BORDERS FOR JOY INFINITE FIDELITY ‘ BC
A cracking superb Sendaway helped secure this place . Well Done.
I thank Rick v veeren for giving her time up to act as Ring Steward .
AND PAUL ! Paul ( v Dyk ) PAUL! What a gem you are – Thanks for your expertise on the Scoreboard. Hope you will always ‘be available ‘
A special mention to Brenda Botermans on her debut as a Decoy Steward – A job very well done - thank you - You are now awarded your stripes as a fully qualified Scent Decoy Steward !!
Lastly a huge thank you to Monique for the invitation to judge again – giving me an opportunity to say hello to the many of the Dutch crowd I have met and become very fond of over the years I have visited.
