Novice: ENTRIES: 27. RAN: 26. JUDGE: Steve Rutter Steward: Tiny Bouchaut SCORE: Lia Baars. Many thanks to Greet & Eddy for the invitation to judge for you, I’m glad I accepted, it was a privilege and an honour, your hospitality and your attention to detail helped to make this a very enjoyable appointment. My co-judge Bob Beesley and I couldn’t have been looked after any better; Greet & Eddy welcomed us into their home and ensured we had everything we needed. The standard was good, all those in the line up plus 3 or 4 others are more than capable of winning a novice and would have easily held their own in the UK, although obedience in Holland may not have has many competitors as in the UK, those that do compete are very good, they enjoy their time in the ring and strive to give of their best. Thanks must also go to my Steward Tiny, I enjoyed your company and your stewarding was superb, steering all competitors round the ring with out fuss or faults. Thanks also to Lia who looked after my scoreboard for both this class and the ‘B’ class, your help was greatly appreciated, especially with the language difference, my Dutch isn’t quite up to scratch!!
1st Melissa Vercauter & Demma of the Action Farm (Terv) Losing: 3.75. T.T: F. HOL: 2.5. REC: F. RET: F. HF: 1.25. ST: F. Melissa & Emma attacked this round from the start and put in a round worthy of a win anywhere. Apparently Melissa’s nerves normally get the better of her, but thankfully not today and it gave me great pleasure to award you this win. You shouldn’t be nervous with a dog as well trained as Emma, have confidence in her and in your own ability and more success will follow. CONGRATULATIONS & GOOD LUCK.
T.T: F. HOL: 1.75. REC: 0.25. RET: 0.75. HF: 1.25. ST: F. Gino & Anka ran the eventual winners very close, a super round with dog and handler working well together. Just little wides and untidy left turns for me to mark made for a very nice round. Sharpen your left turns and you are sure to progress. WELL DONE & GOOD LUCK.
3rd Bianca van der Post & Nice of you to Come Bye Eager Wizard (B/C) Losing: 4.25. T.T: F. HOL: 1.75. REC: 0.25. RET: 1. HF: 1.25. ST: F. Wizard worked really hard today and tried very hard to please, with tidier set exercises the red could have been yours, also left turns need a little bit of work, that said this was still a round worthy of a place. WELL DONE & GOOD LUCK.
T.T: F. HOL: 1.75. REC: 0.25. RET: 1. HF: 1.25. ST: F. This was another very nice round, but one where Poppen decided to do some naughty things!! A couple of silly wides, a lift in the wait in the recall, an un-tidy pick up on retrieve; the annoying things that make most of us pull our hair out. Tidy up and I’m sure progress will follow. WELL DONE & GOOD LUCK.
T.T: F. HOL: 2.75. REC: 0.5. RET: 1. HF: 2. ST: F. Nothing Fuzzy or Wuzzy about this team, they look good and work well together, wides accounted for most of the marks lost and if Martine can tighten the heelwork success is sure to follow. WELL DONE & GOOD LUCK.
6th Anda de Baerdemaeker & Fjurdyhoeve Djinfaye (B/C) Losing: 6.5. T.T: F. HOL: 3. REC: 0.25. RET: 0.25. HF: 3. ST: F. Wides again were the biggest downfall of this team, they do enjoy their time in the but Anda contributes to her own downfall, slowing down or walking on, on turns did not help Fra. Have a little more confidence in your dog and go for it. WELL DONE & GOOD LUCK.
7th ARO Greet Vink & Kyrill van Berlaere (B/C) Losing: 6.75. T.T: F. HOL: 3. REC: F. RET: 0.25. HF: 3.5. ST: F. Staying with Greet I got to see Kyrill at close quarters and found him to be a well balanced young dog at only just 12 months, he is sure to get stronger in all exercises as he matures. The faults made were due to his immaturity not his training and I’m sure in Greet’s hands he will progress steadily. WELL DONE & GOOD LUCK.
Those losing out in the run off: Carola Van Tilburg & BO WHITE VAN TILBURG. (B/C) A very competent round with wides being the main fault, tidy those and stop the barking and success should follow, WELL DONE. Walter Rogiers & BEAUTYRIS DU FIL DU TEMPS. (B/C) Walter & Irish gave it their best shot, wides yet again the main fault, again tidy these up and you should be at the other end of the line up. WELL DONE. Anneke Hollemans –V. Buren. & QUEBEY’S BOY TWICE VAN BENVENIDA’S JOY. (B/C) Twice gave everything today, losing marks for working slightly forward and slight wides in heelwork, they did a nice full point retrieve but Anneke’s re-adjustment on the present cost 1 point and 5th place. WELL DONE.
Worthy Of A Mention: Lucie Van De Casteele & G.B. VAN BENVENIDA’S JOY. This team put in one of the best rounds of the day losing only 4.5 points in the ring, unfortunately GB found the stays too difficult, better luck next time.
Class "B": ENTRIES: 10. RAN: 10. Judge: Steve Rutter Steward: Steven Vannieuwenhuyse. SCORE: Lia Baars. Before starting to judge this class I addressed the competitors asking them not to come in and train right from the start, as I had been informed they are liable to do, but to give it a go as in a class of only 10 everyone stood a chance. The standard in this class was a little mixed, all dogs put in good rounds but quite a few then decided to mess up either stays or scent or indeed both and as I know to my cost without a good scent and stays your not going to win a lot. Many thanks to Steven for stewarding this class for me, another first class display of stewarding.
1st Trudy Groenenboom met Crazy Legs Guinness (W/S) Trudy & Guiness made this round look easy and were very worthy winners, only minor faults for me to mark made for a very enjoyable round and Trudy’s handling was impeccable. CONGRATULATIONS & GOOD LUCK.
The heelwork in this round was a little messy with Karola having to give a couple of extra commands to keep Wen in check, that said the marks lost were through Wen’s keenness to work, this is a very nice dog indeed and if Karola can keep the dogs concentration and natural keenness under control this team can fly. WELL DONE & GOOD LUCK. This team put in a very competent round only to see their chances dented in stays, and destroyed in scent, that said it was still a pleasure to watch Monique & Rooney do a super round of heelwork. WELL DONE & GOOD LUCK.
This team put in a super round in the ring and an almost faultless scent only to see their chances disappear in the stay ring, when you’ve got a dog as good as this it’s a choker when they break stays. WELL DONE & GOOD LUCK.
Martine & Cha set about this round with gusto and seemed to enjoy their round, an untidy sendaway cost most marks, get that sorted and straighten the bottom (the dogs not Martine’s) and you can go much closer. WELL DONE & GOOD LUCK.
Thanks once again to all concerned for the invite, I really enjoyed my time in Holland and look forward to another visit in the future. Just one last thing the work that Greet & Ed put in before this show was evident from the numerous prizes they had got some of the big company’s to donate, so many in fact that nobody went home without a gift from the raffle that took place following the presentation of the prizes. Once the judging was finished most competitors stayed for the presentation and it was nice to be able to socialise with you all, it was a pleasure to judge you today and I hope to be able to do so again in the future. Steve Rutter.
