DUTCH OBEDIENCE SOCIETY – Open Show
Saturday 10th January 2009
Thank you to Trudy, Angela, Peter and the committee for the invitation once again to judge at your show and making us so welcome. As always a special thank you to Trudy for her hospitality and the wonderful time we had Sunday morning seeing the frozen rivers and canals with the windmills in the background and all the people skating. It was so picturesque. Thank you also to Angela, Lenie and Guus for their company Saturday evening.
Special thanks to all our stewards including Chief Stay Steward – Ed Vink, you all did a sterling job,

Beginners – No. in class 19, No. ran 17
Ring Steward: Steven Vannieuwenhuyse; Scoreboard: Danielle de Jonge
1st Karen Stegmeijer and PRONKJEWAIL VAN’T LOUG HOAGY (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) lost 5¼. What a wonderful little dog/bitch this was. Kept a constant position by Karen’s side and didn’t take his eyes off her once. Karen unfortunately lost several of the marks for slowing up on the turns, have confidence in your little dog because I am sure he will keep up with you. The heelwork was followed by excellent recall and retrieve. Many congratulations on winning this class, you must be so pleased with your dog.
2nd Petra Frijling and SENNA (Gos d’ Atura) lost 5½. I have not heard of this breed before, but it looks a little bit like a Beardie and he just flowed around the ring. Again the handler slowed up a couple of times and there was a loss of position sometimes but overall the heelwork was good. A bit slow going out and returning on the retrieve but I am sure this can be corrected. Congratulations.
3rd Arlett Geenen and ION LEFFS OFF V. DEELENBROEK (Kerry Blue Terrier) lost 5¾. WOW!! This little dog’s tail did not stop wagging he/she was so happy. The marks lost were mainly for wides on heelwork otherwise it was beautiful to watch. Recall and Retrieve were fast and clear. It was a pleasure to give this pair third place. Congratulations.
4th Peta Seinatra and BEST TROY OF CLOVER CORNER (Border Collie) Lost 6.
A happy dog and a nice round but unfortunately loss of position and the handler slowing up lost marks. Also a crooked bum in recall and retrieve were costly, however still good enough to gain this place. Well done.
5th Inge de Graauw and THIMBA (Kruising) lost 6½. As above a happy dog with some wide working but then on the Recall stood up before being called, which was unfortunate, otherwise you have been higher in the class. Well done for gaining this place.
6th Ardie Spoorenberg and BEST PAM OF CLOVER CORNER (Border Collie) Lost 7½. Once again wide working cost the points today and then stood up in the Retrieve. Well done.
7th Heidi Demon and BONNIEBLUE GODARCH (Border Collie) Lost 7¾. Heelwork took the marks today and then in Retrieve this dog decided to hold onto the dumbbell and then backed up when it was taken. I am sure you will be able to sort this out and then you will be placed higher. Well done.
A dog to watch was Jacqueline Verschuiren and BEST KNOW-ME OF CLVOER CORNER who did a cracking round of heelwork only losing 3 but then unfortunately went down in the sit stay. Good luck for the future.
A lot of the handlers in the class were slowing up and waiting for their dogs, please have the confidence and give encouragement to your dogs as this should pay off and give a much better heelwork position.

Class ‘C’ - No. in class 25, no. ran 24
Ring Steward:Hans Bilius ; Scoreboard: Benny van de Casteele, Decoy: Charles Pacques
Only 11 dogs completed all the exercises in this class and what a lovely selection of dogs in the line up.
1st Mia Bosschaart and MAMAMIA’S TYKE W/S. Lost 11½. What can I say about Mia and Tyke that hasn’t been said before. They are certainly on a high and I am sure if they could get to England more they would surely qualify for Ticket. All the very best of luck for the season and many congratulations on this win. Also good luck when you compete with the Dutch team in the Crufts World Cup in March.
2nd Guus Scholten and COLLIEWOOD VELAZQUEZ GIOVANNI W/S. Lost 14½. A very smart handler and Gio is such a well trained dog. This team has qualified for Crufts Obedience Championship in March this year and is also reserve for the Dutch World Cup team and I can see why. The very best of luck and many congratulations.
3rd Steven Vannieuwenhuyse and BYTCHEK ESQUIRE B/C Lost 19½. Heelwork was not quite as tidy as I know Bugsby can work and then he did a huge deviation in sendaway but still good enough for this place. Well done and good luck as I know you are competing with the Belgian World Cup team.
4th Bianca v.d Post and GENEROUS GENIAI GINNY Australian Kelpie Lost 23½. Very nice neat and tidy heelwork from Bianca and Ginny but then DC and sendaway were costly. However they finished off with a clear scent. Very well done.
5th Margreet Mijnsbergen and FLEUR OF THE CHARMING STEAD Golden Retriever Lost 24½. Fleur was such a lovely happy dog but couldn’t quite maintain her position in heelwork and once again a handler that was slowing up on turns. Well done on gaining this place.
6th Brigitte v. Gestel and TWICE AS NICE TWIZZIE V. BENVENIDA’S JOY B/C lost 27½. Very nice heelwork from this team but unfortunately a missed position in ASSD and DC were costly. Well done.
7th Greet Vink and SEALIGH BORYCK O.W. Nice to see Greet and Boryck again. Unfortunately I seemed to have misplaced your sheet so cannot put your marks down. Sorry about that but well done on gaining this place.
