Class B
Ring Steward Guus Scholton Score: Benny van de Casteele

Stella and I were honoured to again judge at one of the Dutch Obedience society shows. We had ideal weather, a superb venue, and loads of space with huge flat rings. Hans and Guus are both very experienced stewards who performed their task with ease guiding each competitor through the test without error. They even managed to cope well with the less predictable training rounds. Benny did a great job on scoreboard, keeping everything in order and competitors flowing in their assigned running order. Fortunately neither scent decoy proved attractive to the dogs.
All the dogs are really well motivated, some to such an extent that some are quite untidy. Handling was usually neat and upright with very few handlers giving away unnecessary marks through poor deportment. Set exercises are well executed in particular scent.
We were very well looked after throughout our stay, all we might need on the day, with lovely gifts to take away. Birgit and husband Gerrit welcomed us into their home and entertained us from arrival to departure. Thank you to you both for giving up so much of your time to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
Class C had 27 entries of which 24 ran. Many of these teams compete most successfully in the UK, and the standard is such that there is little difference between judging in Holland and the UK. It is easy to see why they have such a strong, successful team for the Crufts World Cup event each year.
The best were;
1st Danielle de Jong, MICKY, B/C. Danielle and Micky make it all look so easy. The complete team worthy of this win, and no doubt many more.
2nd Annelies van de Velde, TWINKLES LADDY BOY, W/S. Only half a point behind the winner, so the handler error in retrieve proved very costly. I’m sure more success with come your way this year.
3rd Steven Vannieuwenhuyse, BYTCHEK ESQUIRE, B/C. Fabulous set exercises, good heelwork, but ASSD losing points.
4th Lenie Kastelejin, COLLIEWOOD CABALLE ‘LA LAYLA’, W/S. A missed position in DC resulting in this\place, otherwise who knows?
5th Mia Bosschaart, MAMAMIA’S TYKE, W/S. Heelwork uncharactistically untidy on this occasion, and a missed position in DC resulted in this low place.
6th Melissa Vercauter, DEMMA OF THE ACTIONFARM, TERV. Little to mark on set exercises but heelwork a little untidy due to wide working on turns in particular.
7th Rick van Veeren, SEALIGHT FLASH OF LIGHTENING, B/C. Flash was really keen, so much so Rick didn’t always keep up.
Class B had 13 entries, 11 ran. As with any class B the standard was mixed with some not yet ready to compete in this class, but most have the potential to move on to class C.
1st Lucie van de Casteele, G.B. VAN BENVENIDA’S JOY, BC. A little inattentive at the start on heelwork, but he soon settled to produce a good round, and then nearly threw it away in scent, but hung on to secure this win. I’m sure Lucie will sort out the glitches.
2nd Greet Vink, KYRILL V BARLAERE, B/C. Some errors in heelwork, but nothing major that cannot be resolved, then not making the distance in sendaway lost just too many points.
3rd Bianca van de Post, NICE OF YOU TO COME BYE-EAGER WIZARD, B/C. Very similar to the above dog, but a move in stays sealed their fate.
4th Jose Flierman, BORDERS FOR JOY FREEDOM OF FAITH, B/C. Heel position and dropping well shot on sendaway were the problems to result in quite a few points lost.
5th Annexe Hollemans, QUELLYANE BENVENIDA, B/C. Stays were the problem here, with movement on both sit and down otherwise the rest of the round was good.
6th Timothy de Cleyn, BONO OF GERONIMO’S TRIBE, GT Munst. What a super dog. Work is needed to improve both heelwork and sendaway, and this time a move in the down stay resulted in a\low place.
7th Anne de Haan, JUDY’S JUDY SHEPHERD’S DREAM, B/C. Points lost in all exercises so work needed to improve on this place.
Very best wishes to all competitors for the remainder of the season. I look forward to seeing you all again next year.
