DUTCH OBEDIENCE Held at the Dog Centre, Kerkwijk on Saturday 10th October 2009

My thanks go to the Dutch Obedience for the invitation to judge and with extra special thanks to Rick and Jan for their hospitality, you really made so welcome and at home.  Shirley and I had a wonderful time, especially the pancakes!!.  Thank you also to Martin for the use of the very nice facilities and the meals provided.

Beginners  23 entries, 20 ran

Steward:  Vincent De Wilde,
Scoreboard: Marjan Van Elst

Thank you Vincent for doing a great job stewarding and to Marjan for keeping the scores.

1st Peta Seinstra and BEST TROY OF CLOVER CORNER B/C.  HOL 3½, HF 2, Recall ½, Down Stay ½. Total lost 6½. This was by far the best round of the day, superb teamwork with excellent heelwork, together with a very neat retrieve gaining full points.  They would certainly hold their own in a Beginners Class in the UK.  Very many congratulations on gaining first place.

2nd ARO Mirjam van den Broek and Z JOE B/C.  HOL 3, HF 2, Recall 1½, Retrieve 2. Total 8½.  This heelwork was very, very nice even though the handler was not giving many commands.  I think you could use voice commands a little more just to make sure your dog is with you all the time.  Anticipation in recall, together with hanging on to the dumbbell and anticipation in retrieve was costly otherwise you could have had the red rosette.  I am sure you will sort these out and then you will be winning.  Congratulations.

3rd ARO Esther Brouwer and BEST MIGHTY MIKE OF CLOVERS CORNER B/C. HOL 3½, HF 3½, Recall 1, Retrieve ½. Total  8½.  This was a very strong dog and the handler did well to maintain the consistency in the heelwork.  Just lost out in the run-off but still very well done.

4th Arjan Rodenhuis and JAICKE OF HAPPY DOGS Kruising.  HOL 4, HF 3, Recall ½, Retrieve 2. Total 9½.  This gentleman worked very hard and gave good commands, his little dog obviously loves him to bits and worked very well. Try to work on getting your dog a little closer to you and you will soon be placed higher.  Well done.

5th Klaas Eegdeman and HARRY ULURU Australian Kelpie.  HOL 5½, HF 5, Retrieve ½. Total lost 11.  It was lovely to see the Kelpie working but the handler took an extraordinarily long time to set up prior to heelwork. I am sure if you could give more consistent commands you will achieve better results.  Well done.

6th Angeline Wayop-Beekink and NICE OF YOU TO COME BYE GO WITH TH’FLOW B/C.  HW 5½, HF 3, Recall 1, Retrieve 2. Total 11½.   Although this dog was watching the handler there wasn’t the consistency in commands to ensure that her dog maintain a good heelwork position.  Try to work on this and I am sure you will do much better.  Well done.

7th Wouterien Koops and BEST LUNA OF CLOVER CORNER B/C.  HOL 6½, HF 4½, Retrieve ½. Total lost 11½.   Again inconsistency in heelwork position was costly but had a clear recall.  Well done.

One handler that deserves a mention is a young lad called Davy Alliet and his Weimaraner DIMKA FROM CRAZY BLUE.  I thought you handled your dog with so much confidence even though I believe it was your first time of competing.  Yes, there was some wide working but I thought you gave excellent commands just at the right time and your dog responded instantly.  I think if you continue like this you will go far.  Many congratulations.

Class C. 25 entries 22 ran

Steward: Hans Bilius
Scoreboard: Ingrid Eekman
Decoy: Cees Groen

Thank you so much Hans for stewarding once again for me, you did an excellent job. Thank you also to Ingrid for keeping the scores and to Cees for decoying.

1st Danielle de Jonge and MIKEY B/C. Lost 12½. Excellent set exercises but today Mikey was tending to crab a bit and Danielle I felt you were taking too many paces after the command to turn, otherwise good teamwork.  Many congratulations.

2nd Brigitte van Gestel and TWICE AS NICE VAN BENDENIDA’S JOY B/C.  Lost 14½.  My notes say “very nice” and it was.  Twizzle is a well-motivated dog, which sometimes causes her to invert, and Brigette inadvertently gave an extra signal in retrieve, which cost them.  Congratulations on gaining this place.

3rd Bianca van der Post and GENEROUS GENIAL GINNY Australian Kelpie. Lost 15½.  Although Bianca walks very fast Ginny maintains a good position and it is good to see such co-ordination from this team.  However, Ginny your slow place turns are far too fast for the pace you are in, remember turns in slow pace must be made at slow pace.  I am sure you will overcome this and then you will be gaining a well deserved 1st place.  Well done.

4th Mia Bosschaart and MAMAMIA’S TYKE W/S.  Lost 19.  Tyke is a well trained dog and with Mia’s excellent handling, make a good team. As with the above handler, Mia I felt your slow pace turns were too fast but otherwise good work. Well done.

5th Melissa Vercauter and DEMMA OF THE ACTION FARM Tervuerense Herder. Lost 21½.  Very nice heelwork from this team and my notes say “lovely attention” from Gemma.  The ASSD needs some working on as the marks lost here were costly, also Gemma decided to deviate on sendaway and required an extra command.  Take these extra marks off and you would have been a lot higher.  Well done.

6th Greet Vink and KYRILL VAN BERLARE W/S.  Lost 22.  Kyrill worked very nice for Greet but unfortunately lost 8 on sendaway, which was very costly.  Still a well trained dog that should go far.  Well done.

7th Krist Crommen and JAZZ IT UP VAN VENVENIDA’S JOY B/C.  Lost 29.  Dixie’s heelwork position needs quite a bit of tightening up as this is where the majority of the marks were lost also a missed position in DC.  But very well handled by Krist.  Well done.

My commiserations must go to Annelies van de Velde with TWINKLE’S LADDY BOY W/S.  This was teamwork at its best with excellent heelwork only for them to miss their stays.  If only!!!! But I am sure you will soon have another chance to gain that well deserved 1st place.  Many congratulations.
