THE DUTCH OBEDIENCE SOCIETY
BLEISWIJK – Saturday 24th October 2009 (Class A and B)
Judge:- Carol Belsten
Firstly many thanks to the Dutch Obedience Society for inviting me back to judge along with Shirley Clowes, it is a great opportunity. Your hospitality was fabulous. It’s so nice to see so many happy keen dogs and different breeds your society’s commitment to the sport really shows especially when I can see so much improvement from the year before.
Special thanks must go to Lucie and Benie for looking after us and letting us stay at their lovely home you made us feel so very welcome.
Thanks to Bianca and Guus for your company through the day and being excellent ring stewards which made my job so much easier.
Finally, thank you to all the competitors, scoreboard and stay stewards for making my day enjoyable.
The results of the classes are as follows:-
CLASS A (Entries 26. – Ran 25)
Ring Stewards:- Bianca Van der Post
Scoreboard :- Anneke Griffioen
1st Henneke Heideveld with Kiss of Magic Kayoe – GSD. Lost 5.
Super attitude and heelwork from this team. Kayoe floated around the ring. Just need to tighten up on a few turns especially abouts and watch the jumping up on A recall. Congratulations on your win and good luck for the future.
2nd Rose Dewulf with Bekkis Yours Faithfully – BC. Lost 5½.
Another enthusiastic team with only a few minor errors mainly losing position slightly on turns and lagging on the abouts. Slight mouthing in retrieve and crooked sit on recall. Well done on your place and good luck for the future.
3rd Frans de Groot with Quila – G Ret. Lost 5¾.
Quila produced another stylish heelwork round with a great attitude just need to watch going wide on the abouts and right turns. Also anticipated the retrieve. Well done and good luck.
4th Sofie Greven with Detania Herrfst Roos – BC. Lost 6¼.
Very neat heelwork from this team with lovely attention. Just bits and pieces and well in contention with the leader. Would have been higher placed but for the anticipation and crooked sit in retrieve. Well done and good luck.
5th Tamara van der Wagen with Jessy – Mechelse Herder/Malinois. Lost 6½.
I was impressed with this team. Jessy was a big powerful dog yet produced a very accurate and steady round with just the odd wide turn. Extra command in retrieve and mouthing in scent was costly otherwise would have been at the top. Well done and good luck.
6th Sandra Pierson with Akso – BC. Lost 6¾.
Akso was much improved from last year. Just need to watch those crooked sits and wide abouts. Lost a couple of marks in scent on pick up otherwise a good round. Well done and good luck.
7th Jose Flierman with Nice of you to come bye be clever. – BC. Lost 8¾.
Another steady round from this team with excellent attention. Saathi tends to lag a little on all the turns so something you need to work on. Also got a bit confused with the scent today, which was costly. Well done.
My commiserations to Martine and Fouzy who was much improved from last year especially her attention, best heelwork of the day just a shame she broke sit stays. I am sure her time will come.
Carol Belsten.
CLASS B (Entries 19. – Ran 19)
Ring Stewards:- Guus Scholten
Scoreboard :- Ingrid Eekman
Decoy:- Dave Alliet
Very enthusiastic dogs in this class today but with 13 training rounds I was unable to give all the places out. However the training rounds proved to be very productive which was great especially with Guus helping.
1st Bianca Van der Post with Nice of you to come bye Eager Wizard. BC Lost 6¾
This team were really in a class of their own today superb handling and good sets with very little to mark. Bianca just needs to slow down slightly on her turns especially in normal and fast pace also went wide when called back from sendaway. So glad he did the stays for you. Congratulations on your win and good luck in the future.
2nd Helen Braak with Quiet-Kuma the lovely white shepherd. GSD. Lost 9.
Really impressed with this team. Another shepherd with attitude and commitment. Well handled by Helen. Just bits and pieces watch your turns in fast past and a few crooked sits but I am sure he will go along way. Congratulations and well done.
3rd Martine Verhoeven with Comanchero of the Two Roses. Dobermann. Lost 12¼.
100% attention from this big dog and a credit to Martine to see a dobermann work at this level. However Ché was a little full of himself in the ring today especially in the sendaway which proved costly. Well done and good luck in C.
4th José Flierman with Nice of you to come bye be clever. BC. Lost 19¼.
Very neat and steady round from this team. Excellent attention from Saathi but again tends to lose position on the turns and fall back. Extra command on sendaway was costly plus mouthing retrieve article. Well done on your place.
5th Nicky Spengler with Dawnville High Hopes of Davy. SS. Lost 19½.
At 12 years old this happy little Sheltie tried his best for Nicky. Needs to tighten up a little on heelwork plus a few crooked sits. Had to give extra command on sendaway but neatly done. Well done on your place.
6th Nicky Spengler with Elegant Maxel O’the Little Lodge. SS Lost 21¾.
Maxel was a little more nervous than your older dog but you handled him very well. Some nice bits when you had full attention just need to work on getting him to sit at the end of each pace. Went the wrong way at the end of recall which was costly. Better scent than Davy. So well done on this place.
One team worth a mention in this class today was Timoty de Cleyn and his Munsterlander Bono. Really super heelwork and attention just need to sort his stays out.
