Many thanks to Benny, Peter, Krist and Brigitte for the invitation and the kind hospitality. I had a lovely lovely time in Holland and will remember this weekend for a long time. Fantastic hospitality from Brigitte, and a lovely gift at the end of the day. Thanks also to my scoreboards and stewards, Annelies, Hans and Karin, and to the stay team.
CLASS A DOG/BITCH 21 entries : 18 ran Ring: Annelies v de Velde, Score: Karin Stegmeijer,
This was a very nice class to judge although it was in the afternoon when the weather was very hot and the poor dogs did not work their best. There were also a few scent failures and I did wonder if it was because a lot of the handlers worked their dogs in bare feet so the grass must have been carrying their scent making it more difficult for the dogs.
Those who performed best today were:
1st Wilma Struijk & “ENGY INGO VON DEN GANSEWISEN”, Entlebucher Sennenhond. A breed that I’d never seen before but I thought he was lovely. Such a little character. He needed an extra command near the start of the heelwork but after that he worked very well. A little bit naughty on retrieve but I’m sure he will progress though the classes. Well done. HF 4.5, Ret 1, Ret 3.5, Sc 1, TOTAL 10.
There should have been a full-round run-off for 1st place but this lovely lady conceded because her dog was too hot and had done enough.
2nd Sandra Buitendijk & “MISCHIEVOUS INDEPENDENT INDY” Melchelse Herder. Another breed I’d never seen before. A very good round which could have won with a good scent score. Actually did the best scent of the class but blew it on the finish. Such a shame. Good luck for the future. HF 4, Rec 0.5, Ret 2.5, Sc 3, TOTAL 10.
There was a run-off to decide 3rd and 4th places.
3rd Ineke Happee & “NICE OF YOU TO COME BYE SKEEZER” BC. This was my leading dog before scent. Did a super round but unfortunately liked my scent cloth a bit too much and tried to rip it to shreds!!! Thanks also for helping out on the scoreboard Ineka. Good luck. HF 4, Rec 1, Ret 1, Sc 5, TOTAL 11.
4th Esther Brouwer & “BEST JIMMY OF CLOVER CORNER” BC. Heelwork lost the most marks today, the other exercises were very good. Was probably the hot weather. Good luck. HF 7.5, Ret 1.5, Ret 1, Sc 1, TOTAL 11.
5th Dona Vandenheule & “QUELLYANE GOMEZ” BC. A happy and stylish dog with a naughty streak! I’m sure he will do well in the future. HF 5, Rec 1.5, Ret 4.5, Sc 30, TOTAL 41.
6th Evy de Fonvent & “YENKA” BC. Needed some help during the round but I’m sure this team can do better on a cooler day. Good luck. HF 16, Rec 5, Ret 4.5, Sc 30, TOTAL 55.5.
7th Marie Vanuxewm & “TAO THE TWO FACED DOG” WS. My favourite dog of the class because he looked like a longer coated version of my Kicker and was just as naughty! Good luck with him. HF 4.5, Rec 0.5, Ret 3, Sit 19, Down 29, Sc 30, Total 90.
Thanks to everyone who worked this class today. I hope you enjoyed the round as much as I enjoyed judging you.
CLASS C DOG/BITCH 26 entries : 22 ran Ring: Hans Bilius, Score: Karin Stegmeijer
The dogs in this class were exceptionally good and very motivated. Some just did the odd thing wrong but overall I was very impressed with the standard of work.
1st Annelies v.d. Velde & “TWINKLE’S LADDY BOY” WS. This dog was stunning. Very keen and happy. Did not give me much to mark on the heelwork. Ahead of the rest of the class going into scent, and went clear on that test to take a convincing win. Excellent performance. Well done. HW 5.5, SA 1.5, Ret 0.5, DC 0.5, Sc 0, TOTAL 8.
2nd Bianca v.d. Post & “GENEROUS GENIAL GINNY” Australian Kelpie. A super keen little dog who gave it 100%. Not much wrong with the heelwork but I did dock the noise. Beautiful fast pace. A very well deserved 2nd place. Good luck for the future. Would like to see you in the UK competing in our ticket classes. HW 8, SA 1, Ret 0.5, DC 0.5, Sc 0, TOTAL 10.
3rd Pieun v.d. Ster & “THISISBLIZZ OF ALBION’S MARCH” BC. Another very good round of heelwork. Little errors on Sendaway and DC were costly today. Good luck for the future. HW 7, SA 2, Ret 1, DC 2, Sc 0, TOTAL 12.
4th Tiny Bouchaut & “TWINKLE’S KATHMICK” WS. Crabbing on the heelwork was expensive today for this very keen dog. If you can cure that problem, this dog is fabulous. HW 14, SA 1.5, Ret 0.5, DC 0.5, Sc 1, TOTAL 17.5.
5th Mia Bosschaart & “MAMAMIA’S TYKE” WS. This was a lovely round, only spoilt by Tyke missing the down position in the heelwork, and Mia giving him a wrong position in the DC. Lovely Sendaway and Retrieve. Better luck next time. HW 11.5, SA 0.5, Ret 0.5, DC 6.5, Sc 0, TOTAL 19.
6th Annelies v.d. Velde & “DI-LUKA” WS. A missed sit position was costly, otherwise the heelwork was exceptionally good. I’m not sure what happened on the finish on the retrieve, Seemed to lose the plot! HW 12.5, SA 2, Ret 5.5, DC 1, Sc 0, TOTAL 21.
7th Ineka Happee & BRIGHT SHE SHALL BE v.d. WILBAM” BC. I could only mark the heelwork and sendaway. Clear on everything else. The heelwork needs some tidying up but the Retrieve and DC were excellent. Good luck. HW 18, SA 4.5, Ret 0, DC 0, Sc 0, TOTAL 22.5.
Thanks to you all for being so friendly and making me feel so welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed judging your lovely dogs.
