SHOW REPORTS for KERKWIJK on 29th OKTOBER 2011.
Judge: Lynne Ewington
Thank you very much to Rik and the Dutch Obedience Society for asking me to Judge Novice and 'B' at Kerkwijk, it was lovely to be back judging in Holland. Thank you for making us so welcome and taking such good care of us during our stay. The organisation, venue (lovely big rings) and hospitality was amazing and it was a real pleasure to judge both classes.

WOW - I had some lovely dogs to judge in this class, many of which are capable of winning novice but today was unfortunately not the day. It was great to see so many different breeds too competing. Keep enjoying your dogs and training hard!
1st GLEN MORANGIE (Border Collie) handled by Yvonne de Brucker-Hollyoak. Total 4 3/4pts.
Beautiful heelwork just needing alittle more commitment to maintaining the heelwork position. Turns nicely executed and neat handling from Yvonne. Congratulations on a well deserved win and best of luck for the future.

2nd Run Off. BEST JIMMY OF CLOVER CORNER (Border Collie) handled by Esther Brouwer. Total 5 3/4 pts.
Another team with beautiful heelwork and handling. The Heel on Lead in the run off was stunning! Jimmy just needs to be alittle more committed to keeping his position coming out of the turns in heelwork. Silly marks lost for slightly crooked presents and forward finishes. Congratulations and best of luck for the future.

3rd Run Off. ANDTANYA FIRE 'N' ICE-MAYA (Border Collie) handled by Yvonne de Brucker-Hollyoak Total 5 3/4 pts
Amazing - two dogs in the top 3! Another lovely round, just with slight drifting in the heelwork the main problem today. Tidy up the slightly crooked presents in both recall and retrieve (with both dogs) as silly marks to give away. Keep up the great work.
Temp Clear HOL 2 pts HF 3 1/4 pts Recall 1/4 pt Retrieve 1/4 pt
4th BORDERS FOR JOY INFINITE FIDELITY (Border Collie) handled by Inge de Graauw Total 6 1/2 pts
Tucking in heelwork and wide coming out of the turns costly today, just needs tidying up alittle. Just a little attention required to sort out the crooked finishes and also the pick up on retrieve.
Temp Clear HOL 2 1/4 pts HF 2 3/4 pts Recall 1/2 pt Retrieve 1 pt
5th SWIFTY (Border Collie) handled by Mieke Peynaerts Total 6 3/4 pts
A lovely keen deaf collie beautifully handled by Mieke. A team that has the potential to go far. Main fault today was hesitating a little on the turns and a slight drifting on the longer stretches of heelwork. Just needs alittle more commitment to maintain the heelwork position. Set exercises were very good. Look forward to seeing you in the higher classses.
Temp Clear HOL 3 pts HF 3 1/4 pts Recall 1/4 pt Retrieve 1/4 pt
6th BEST CAYA OF CLOVER CORNER (Border Collie) handled by Wouterian Koops Total 7 pts
Very pretty collie with a lovely style coupled with nice neat handling. Drifting and just losing position in the turns costly today which with a little general tidying up will see you at the other end of the line up. Slightly crooked present on both recall and retrieve. Good luck for the future.

7th MORTUNFALVI-SZILAJ CSILLAG CSARDAS (Mudi) handled by Janine van Heuven-Kuiper Total 7 1/4 pts
First dog to work. Nice steady style. Just needs a little more encouragement to keep position during the heelwork, especially on heelfree as majority of points lost for lagging on the longer stretches, and just alittle work to tidy up the about turns. Good luck for the future.
Temp Clear HOL 2 1/2 pts HF 4 points Recall 1/4 pt Retrieve 1/2 pt
Finally, a lovely dog worth a mention that did not make the line up today, NEO (Bouvier des Flanders) handled by Karin - fantastic attitude from this BIG DOG. Beautiful heelwork off lead. Unfortunately the crooked presents and finishes cost you a place today.
This was a lovely class to judge and the standard has improved alot since I was last over here, especially in stays and retrieves. Training rounds were well used so the young inexperienced dogs gained confidence in the ring. I wish everyone a very successful 2012.
KLAS "B" RESULTS
Steward: Vincent Dewilde Scoreboard: Marian De Jong
Entries: 15 14 dogs worked
Although a small class the standard of dogs and handlers competing was very high. The test order was sendaway, heelwork normal/fast/slow) then retrieve and all exercises were generally executed very well. Retrieve article was a piece of plumbing pipe.
1st ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS McCAY (Working Sheepdog) handled by Karin Stegmeijer. Total 11 1/4 pts
Best sendaway of the day, losing marks only for a jump on the pickup and a slightly crooked sit at the end. Beautiful heelwork in all paces and lovely neat handling, with the majority of marks lost for tucking and crooked sits at the end of each pace. Tidy up the 'hold' in retrieve as marked this in both retrieve and scent - just a bit more commitment needed. A very nice team to judge. Congratulations on a well deserved win and look forward to seeing you do well in "C" Klas.

2nd MARADONAR ECHO OF LIGHT (Border Collie) handled by Helen Braak. Total 13 1/4 pts
Just slight losses of attention during heelwork causing a few wide turns and occassional tucking on the longer stretches of heelwork. Fast pace was very nice. Just a little work needed to get a nice quick straight halt at the end of the paces. Pecking the decoy cloth in scent also costly today. Congratulations and best of luck for the future, another team who are capable of working well in the higher classes.
S/A 1 3/4 pts HW 8 pts Retrieve 1 1/4 pts Scent 2 1/4 pts
3rd NAMASTE HOPE (Border Collie) handled by Bernou ter Voorde. Total 14 pts
Worked first and produced the best heelwork of the day! Very consistent in all paces with just small changes in position during heelwork resulting in the occasssional tuck or untidy turn. Deviation on sendaway and a messy scent unfortunately costly today. A very neat team who will not be in "B" long. Best of luck for the future.

4th NICE OF YOU TO COME BYE BE CLEVER (Border Collie) handled by Jose Flierman. Total 16 1/4 pts
Unfortunately sendaway proved costly today. Took until the end of normal pace to settle into heelwork. Just needs a bit more commitment to keeping a consistent heelwork position. In slow pace majority of marks lost for tucking. Good luck for next season.
S/A 4 1/4 pts HW 9 3/4 pts Retrieve 1 3/4 pts Scent 1/2 pt
5th SEALIGHT ITS A MAGIC MIRACLE (Border Collie) handled by Rick van Veeren. Total 17 1/4 pts
A team well capable of being at the other end of the line up but Magic just a little too keen today. Extra commands from Rick proving costly (and had to be marked) but were well judged by Rick. Magic just needs to be alittle more committed to maintaining a consistent heelwork position and alot of the silly marks lost for slight drifting will disappear. Slight anticipation in scent too. Congratulations all best of luck for the future.

6th BEST JIMMY OF CLOVER CORNER (Border Collie) handled by Esther Brouwer. Total 21 1/2 pts
Congratulations - placed in both my Novice and "B" Klas. Sendaway proved very costly today, mainly through anticipation but a good fault to have going to this class. A very nice team to watch work and definitely have the potential and attitude to do well in '"B" and higher. Just alittle work to do during the winter on maintaining a consistent heelwork position and tidying up the 'hold' in retrieve and scent. Congratulations and best of luck for the future.
S/A 7 pts HW 8 1/2 pts Retrieve 2 pts Scent 4 pts
7th ZZ JOE (Border Collie) handled by Mirjam van der Broek. Total 26 1/2 pts
Unfortunately the sit stay proved very costly today. Drifting during heelwork and messy halts the main faults today. Just needs a little more commitment to keeping a consistent heelwork position. Best of luck for the future.
S/A 1 1/2 pts HW 10 pts Retrieve 3/4 pts Scent 4 1/4 pts Sit Stay 10 pts
I must just mention two teams not in the line up today. Firstly, Rineke with TIKA JILAROO ULURU (Kelpie) a very stylish team who were leading the class but unfortunately Tika broke both stays. I hope you get this sorted soon. The other team are Sandra with MISCHIEVOUS INDEPENDANT INDY (Mechchelse Herder) who decided to train but I was really impressed by their super attititude and look forward to seeing you placed in the future.
Thank you to all the competitors and best of luck for the 2012 season.
