JUDGES REPORT

The Dutch Obedience Society – Reports for the Dutch Obedience Championships 2019
Saturday 2nd November
Class: Beginners

Judge Sue Flight
Ring Steward Rineke Smit
Scoreboard Angela Kroon
1st Nathalie Bommelie with Ziva (Australian Kelpie). Lovely attentive heelwork, nice pace from handler. Clear recall and a double present on retrieve, Ziva has a lot of potential to improve. Many congratulations on your win.
2nd Jaqueline Van Vlimmeren with Ronya (Tervuerense Herder). Nice style on lead, bouncy and keen. Heel free she didn’t start off with you and scratched half way round test causing loss of position. Off centre presents and crooked finishes in both sets. Well done on your place.
3rd Debbie Hinlopen with Yume (Shetland Sheepdog). Flowing heelwork marred by backward sits. Lovely attitude and partnership. Well done.
4th Tinie Lako with Lucky (Beagle). Wide working through the heelwork, had some nice attention in short bursts. Good sits, a little messy on retrieve, good luck with him.
5th Bart Broos with Bond (English Cocker Spaniel). Bond was very distracted but handler persevered to get him through the test. Bond enjoyed his retrieve, so finished on a high, well done.
Class: Novice

Judge Philomena Barnes
Ring Steward Natalie Knaack–Enkelmann
It was a great honour to be invited to judge the Dutch Obedience Championships what a lovely friendly bunch who made us feel so welcome and looked after us superbly many thanks Monique, Peter and team for a lovely weekend.
Many thanks also to Sue Flight and Louise Williams for judging the other classes and assisting me with setting up and assisting with the Championship class.
The organisation of the show and the attention to detail was excellent.
Thanks to Natalie for superb stewarding.
It was a great pleasure to judge so many dogs with such a happy attitude to their work and the handlers who were genuinely pleased with their dogs and enjoyed themselves.
1st Frans de Groot & Day B/C This team came into the ring with a positive attitude. Day knew his job and completed the round confidently despite losing 2 1/2 on stays they still managed top spot .Congratulations.
2nd Ellen Reijenga-Hurkmans & Sparkle B/C Running a very close 2nd well done on a very nice round good set exercises.
3rd Sandra Pierson & Wendevick “My Hero” Myroh B/C Very well done on a competent round costly recall and retrieve won’t be in this class for long.
4th Joan Smidt & Axi B/C Congratulations on a well-deserved place just needs a little bit more tidying up on the heel work
5th Noella Sermant & O’Dazzle van t’ Hof van Mira B/C Costly recall but well done on a good effort.
6th Barbara Schwaiger & The Look Go For It Texas S/S Lovely happy dog bags of personality well done.
Well done everyone we thoroughly enjoyed meeting you all and judging your lovely dogs.
Philomena Barnes

Class: A

Judge Louise Williams
Ring Steward Rick van Veeren
Scoreboard Angela Kroon
12 entries, 11 booked in, 10 worked, 1 training round
9 attempted stays with 5 losing marks.
I was delighted to be asked by Phil to be part of her team to judge and steward at the Dutch Obedience Championships. After I had the honour of being part of her Crufts team this was really the icing on the cake!
Huge thanks to Isabella and everyone at The Dutch Obedience Society for the invitation and the fabulous hospitality throughout the weekend. Nothing was too much trouble and our every need was well catered for.
Massive thanks to my ring steward Rick van Veeren. Great company, fantastic stewarding and word perfect throughout the test. Rick was supplied by the society which was extremely helpful as it meant all competitors could be given instructions in English or Dutch so no one was disadvantaged by the language barrier.
Many thanks also to Angela Kroon on the scoreboard. Had my sheets ready for me, everything added up and places worked out to perfection.
Thank you both for giving up your day to help me.
The shining stars today were
1st Susanne Huber & Extra Hot Aconcagua (Julie) - Border Collie
WOW!! This pair were in a league of their own and are sure to go on to great things. Susanne’s handling was neat and tidy giving nothing away and Julie was keen, committed and deadly accurate.
Congratulations - onwards and upwards!
2nd Anda De Baerdemaeker & M & J Happy Days QT Biba (Biba) - Border Collie
Really lovely heelwork but minor errors in the set exercises along with an extra command in retrieve relegated you to this place. A lovely partnership who should easily win out of this class soon.
3rd Lianne van der Linde & Ruby (Ruby) – Golden RetrieverPut in a good really round of heelwork in typical goldie style. Extra commands and small errors in the set exercises pushed you down the line up today. Well done.

4th Frans de Groot & Day (Day) – Border Collie
Nice calm, straightforward handling allowed Day to just get on with the job. Unfortunately Day missing out the present in retrieve and breaking the sit stay were very costly. Well done.
5th Noella Sermant & O’Dazzle van t’Hoft van Mira (Dazzle) – Border Collie
Your first ever time in Class A and drawn first in the running order but you gave it a great shot! Completed all exercises but I think your nerves took over as most marks were lost for extra commands. Once you get a bit more experience and gain confidence you will do well. Well done.
6th Heidi Waelkens & Parri Durung Ghinjo of Shinji Star (Parri) – Oud Duitse Herder
Parri seemed overawed by the whole experience today but you gave it a good go, helping and encouraging where necessary. Well done.
Award for the dog that really took my eye went to Axi (Border Collie) with Joan de Smidt, sorry that you missed the presentation – well done.
I really enjoyed meeting you and your lovely dogs. The dogs were all happy and well-motivated and everyone had a fabulous attitude – whatever happened in the ring. It was great to see J
Thank you for accepting my decisions and giving me a very enjoyable day. Good luck for the new season.

Decoy Bart Broos
1st Tiny Bouchaut with Dazzle (Border Collie). Enthusiastic heelwork from this 9 year old collie, very keen to get on with it. Many congratulations on your last B win, good luck in C. Great attitude between these two.
2nd Christina Ruemmer with Glen (Labrador). Some forward working and hand touching added to the marks in what was a good round of heelwork, good sendaway, extra command in retrieve was costly, well done on your place he’s lovely.
3rd Anda De Baerdemaeker with Biba (Border Collie). Another keen collie causing looseness and loss of position in heelwork, good sendaway with a jump on rejoining the handler on recall. A messy scent relegated you down the line, well done on your place.
4th Susanne Huber with Julie (Border Collie). Attentive heelwork, lovely handling. Retrieve was costly with a drop and mouthing, well done on your place and winning class A today.
5th Marja Van Eck with Mony (Shetland Sheepdog). A couple of extra commands made up some of the marks, super attentive round by this sweet dog, not confident in sendaway but got there in the end, this dog was my choice for most polished/improved round by dog and handler.
6th Carolin Ellerhausen with Scarlett (Australian Shepherd). Tighten up your turns and you’ll fly through the classes, best sendaway of the day, lovely dog but unfortunately failed scent.
