DOS Championships 08-11-2025

Hi everyone, my name is Anita Neal and I feel very honoured to be asked to judge the Dutch Championships for the second time, having judge it previously in 2012, were I had the most fantastic time. As well as the UK and Holland, I have also judged in Belgium, Austria, Guernsey and Jersey.
I started in competitive obedience in 1982 not with a dog but by caller stewarding or scoreboarding nearly every weekend for various judges. I started competiting in 1984 with my first Working Sheepdog named Ozzy (Oswald Megan’s Pride). Ozzy took me from Beginners to CH C winning our first ticket in 1991.
My second dog, Chezzi (Ob.Ch Chalkwell Chezzi O.W) won 7 tickets and competed at Crufts on 5 consecutive occasions, 1998 - 2002 and our greatest accomplishment was coming 4th in 2001.
My third dog, Chalki (Ob.Ch Chalkwell Chunki Chalki O.W) won 5 tickets and also competed at Crufts on 5 consecutive occasions, 2003 - 2007. When I got my fourth dog I decided to have a change from Working Sheepdogs and got a GSD who I named Buddi (Chalkwell Golden Buddi). He competed up to C but it was all a bit too much for him so I retired him form competitive obedience.
With my fifth dog I decided to go back to what I understand the most, the Working Sheepdog. So,Razzy (Dodgin Razzy Razcal O.W) came into my life. At this time I also changed my training technique, from conventional to positive reinenforcement. Wow, what a game changer.
Razzy took to it like a duck to water but his over enthusiastic drive to please caused somewhat of a controversy, so we only managed to win 1 ticket, but I wouldn't have had him any other way and we went to Crufts in 2016.
I'm now currently competiting with Razzy's son, Scrummy (Firetouch He'zz So Scrummy O.W). He's won 1 ticket so far and we went to Crufts in 2024.
I not only compete but do my fair share of judging, ring stewarding and scribing every year. I feel it's important to give something back to the sport that has given me and my dogs so much pleasure.
I started my judging career back in 1992 and qualified to judge Championship C in 2000, awarding my first CC in 2001.
To date I have judged 23 tickets, 50 open C's and too many other classes to mention. I have and do love every minute of competitive obedience in whatever capacity and I'm sure I'm going to have the most fabulous time judging faboulous teams on 8th November 2025.

Be happy
Anita Neal
Tracy Ansell

I  have been competing in obedience since I was 9 years old. I started with a Miniature Dachshund, who taught me from the off that you needed patience, perseverance and a sense of humour!  I have always worked "other breeds" (Shelties, German Shepherds and Standard Poodles) with the occasional collie thrown in for good measure.  Each one has taught me something different, and I believe that obedience isn’t just for the “typical” breeds—it’s for any dog if you can find their "want". I have qualified three Standard Poodles for Championship C, showing that brains and beauty can absolutely go paw-in-paw. My current boy has gained three reserve tickets, we just need a little bit of luck on the day for the CC!  One of my proudest moments was being named Overall Champion of BCOS (British Competitive Obedience Society)—a title that reflects not just performance, but the bond between handler and dog.   I am honoured to be invited to judge in Holland—an opportunity I approach with great respect and enthusiasm.  Away from Obedience, I’m a dog groomer and painter (my creative side  can be found by searching Art by Floss). I have previously been crowned Groomer of the year; however, obedience is where my heart truly lies. It’s more than a discipline—it’s teamwork!  To that end, I am looking forward to judging you all and may the best *team" win.

JUDGES REPORT

DUTCH OBEDIENCE SOCIETY  CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW
HELD ON SATURDAY 8TH NOVEMBER 2025

First of all I would like to thank the lovely Monique van Urk and the Dutch Obedience Society board for inviting and entrusting me to judge at their Championship show and to be asked to judge the premier class, it truly was an honour.
Your hospitality, friendliness, accommodation and organisation was absolutely spectacular, you certainly know how to look after your overseas judges and put on an utterly amazing show.
I had an awesome day meeting and judging some lovely teams and it’s been a pleasure to witness so many happy, stylish and motivated dogs. Once again, thank you for your kindness and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. I would also like to show my appreciation to Tracy Ansell for joining me on this journey, for her   support on Saturday and making the whole weekend a truly memorable one.
It was definitely a trip to remember . To all the people that officiated at the show in front and behind the scenes - thank you, it couldn’t go on without you giving up all your valuable time and effort.
